Hello people Smile

A few months ago I discovered Egg's Polite Force album and even though the album is fairly uneven I fell in love with its first track "A visit to newport hospital" and most especially the fantastic bass playing that is going on, and I was wondering if you could help me find such bass playing elsewhere. Big smile

Try Hugh Hopper, Soft Machine, actually, lots of early Canterbury stuff.

A Visit to Newport Hospital is actually one of my favorite tracks of all time. And I love Egg.
As Tom said, Hugh Hopper's playing is in that same vein. Ron van Eck's bass on the first few Supersister albums might also be what you are after.
But Mont Campbell was really one-of-a-kind bassist, there are few like him.

Categories strain, crack and sometimes break, under their burden - step out of the space provided.

Egg was a unique band in many ways.....but all of the Canterbury things are worth hearing....I would also try Amoeba Split.
