does anyone know if there is a real life music store that specializes in progressive rock music.  I live in niagara falls so one relatively close to western new york would be nice.

Could you give more details about this record store?

(I'm from Italy but i find more correct to write in English in this international site)

Thank you

If you're ever in the Hamilton area:
Records On Wheels
32-34 King St. E.
Dundas, ON
L9H 1B8

If what you're looking for isn't in stock he can usually order it for you.

Last time I was in Toronto, found a good 2nd hand specialist - bought Gary Boyle's Electric Glide there, and they had an unused, sealed We're Only In It For The Money (at a huge price). Two catches: I was there 15 years ago, and for the life of me can't remember the shop's name. But Toronto seemed very good for record stores back then.

In my hometown of San Jose, CA, Rasputin music has a progressive rock and progressive metal sections.

Rasputin music has a very impressive collection of progressive materials, I always find something when I go there. (BTW, I live up by Berkeley)

Right on, I wish I lived in CA still, now i'm in Minnesota.  I haven't found a decent record store with prog.  There's a couple local shops but they're like 45 min away.  I sometimes have to rely on Worst Buy and Borders.  The chances of finding something there are slim to none.  The only prog album I found at Worst Buy are Uriah Heep - Demons & Wizards, Symphony X - The Odyesse, a live ELP album, and Porcupine Tree - Deadwing(you can find this one just about anywhere).

Also, about Rasputin, I knew the guy who ran the prog sections, and when he quit there, he started his own distribution business and I started to get all the CDs I wanted from him for a pretty decent price.  13-15 bucks a CD.  He told me that the prog section at the store was going to get smaller and smaller because hardly any new CDs were going to be added now that he left ...and they're going to be making room for more DVDs and pop music.  sh*tty!!
