I've seen that bands such as Atheist and Cynic are reviewed ...Can't see why Death aren't  here. They  are progressive even though a bit extreme.....But all the musicians are great and there is a progressive feeling.Chuck Schuldiner is an underrated guitarist  and has created a sound of his own....

Death is freaking awesome. This band NEEDS to be added to the archives. And their later stuff like "Symbolic" and "Sound of Perserverance" are very progressive. I mean , if Meshuggah was put on here (and they too deserved it, if nothing else just because of "I") then for lord's sake put Death here!!!!!!

Now!!!

Very close-minded.Cynic is here,Meshuggah is here,Control Denied is here.Death definitely deserves a place alongside them(they pretty much founded the genre).Chuck Shuldiner(RIP) was brilliant,a visionary.

Also,it may be death metal, but their last four albums were progressive death metal(hmmmmm....Opeth is progressive death metal. No one bitches about them being here).I challenge someone to listen to The Sound of Perseverance and tell me any different.

I would challenge the presence of 'death metal', however complex and 'clever' in the archives. I dont care if the drummer is playing in 19/12 with his d!ck, and the guitarist has a unique way of making his ear splitting noise, the end result is still predominantly a cacophanous racket, expressing very little other than hatred, anger and despair. We're all entitled to our tastes but the archives are getting so broad in their interpretation of that is 'progressive' we may as well.....

Oh you know the rest...

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Well, I'll be damned if that's not the most close-minded statement I've
ever heard.

I take it you've never heard the more recent material from Death. Their
Symbolic-on albums are commonly considered progressive death metal,
and by The Sound of Perseverance, most of their death metal influences
are gone.

Anyway, there are quite a few progressive death bands here already.
Opeth, Orphaned Land, Cynic...do you want to take them out of the
archives, too?

Whether you want to believe it or not, Death are one of the most
progressive bands in metal.
