This has turned out to be a pretty impressive professional production...

Digital DVD (not DVDR), 5 DSR digital TV video cameras
Digital 24 track recording

14 tracks (main concert approx 1 hour 20 minutes), Professional stagelighting and actually not a bad band clattering about in the middle of it all :o)

When Bluehorses were invited back to the Saul Festival for their second headline show in 2 years, a plan was hatched to film the concert for a live DVD... and Wheeler was set in motion!

That's top BBC director, and very good BH pal, David Wheeler of Top Gear, Bad Lads Army, SAS Jungle Borneo and much more... including BH's 1998 Live Video.

We were extremely lucky that 5 top TV cameramen agreed to work with David on the project using state of the art DSR cameras, which has resulted in footage of stunning quality enhanced by stagelighting by Carl Cresson of Cardiff International Arena.

Equally luckily, the band played a blinder, there were few technical problems and the crowd - and it was great to see so many many Horseheadz-of-this-Parish in attendance - did their thing with much enthusiasm and shouting of encouraging words (some even intelligible) :o)

Up and coming video editor Rupert LLoyd joined the team and has been doing a fantastic job of cutting the film on the latest digital kit at his pad in St James's Palace London.

Independent digital 24 track sound (proper job - not off the PA sound-desk as many lower budget live recordings are done) was recorded by another BH friend, Mistah Lynford Price of Redrock Studio (ably assisted by Ben) and mixed and edited by Lyn and Nic at Redrock - and it do sound mighty fine!

The whole project was only made possible by the unprecedented support of the festival directors and crews and the unstinting help from a cast of over 30 people, including our own fantastic crew, without whom we just couldn't have done it. Thanks guys - all will be mentioned in despatches!

The Current State of Play:

Well, the soundtracks finished. There's a bit more work to be done on the video/DVD side: final tweaks in the cutting room, decisions to be made on what 'extras' to include on the disk and then we'll get on with actually authoring the whole thing before sending it off for manufacture. (NB. These will be the genuine glass-mastered real-thing, not DVDRs)

FAQ:

Q. 'When will it be on sale?

A. 'Dunno' :o)

Seriously, as soon as we can get it finished. It's a big project with lots of different elements and a steep learning curve for yer 'umble producer, Nic. We're looking at sometime in the Autumn.
