Motion Sickness of Time Travel is the nom de guerre of American progressive electronic artist and librarian Rachel Evans, based in Georgia and operating since 2008. The project's style is rooted in Berlin School-based ambient drone, with Evans' processed and multi-tracked vocals woven into an array of synthesisers and electronics along with the occasional cello, harp, zither and guitar. Her influences range from Kraftwerk, Valet, Tim Hecker, Cluster and Roedelius to Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Erik Satie and even Jackie-O Motherf**ker. Evans performs explicitly improvised work with the intent to break from the orthodoxy of music theory upon which she was raised.
The project has amassed a vast discography of full-lengths, EPs and splits, with Evans' most popular and acclaimed pieces the 2010 album Seeping Through the Veil of the Unconscious, 2011's Luminaries & Synastry and 2012's Motion Sickness of Time Travel. Evans is also one half of the like-minded duo Quiet Evenings, a collaboration with her husband Grant (who himself recorded solo as Nova Scotian Arms), and the couple also run Hooker Vision, a record label devoted to limited-edition releases on obsolete formats. Evans' music will appeal to fans of other 21st century neo-kosmische artists like Oneohtrix Point Never, Emeralds, Windy & Carl, Pulse Emitter, Lunar Miasma, Panabrite and Grouper. (With a discography as daunting as hers, I'm only sampling a handful of things. Below are three compilations as well as her most well-known albums): "Athenaeum: 2009 - 2012" (2013) https://motionsicknessoftimetravel.bandcamp.com/album/athenaeum-2009-2012 "Love Songs" (2019) "Syzygía Lodge" (2020) "Seeping Through the Veil of the Unconscious" (2010) https://motionsicknessoftimetravel.bandcamp.com/album/seeping-through-the-veil-of-the-unconscious "Luminaries & Synastry" (2011) "Motion Sickness of Time Travel" (2012) https://motionsicknessoftimetravel.bandcamp.com/album/motion-sickness-of-time-travel

Would someone like to take up Mrs. Evans' project?
