Been listening to the first two ABC albums resently and they strike me as an overlooked and meligned 80s band, whit lot of musicality, not just becouse of Trevor Horn involvment. But they seem to me to be a highly musicaly involved band, with as much funk, jazz and RnB influence as Tears for Fears. they got amazing chord progressions in some songs.

I really love to investigate early 80s new wabe, new romantic and post punk act, that often interwove the sounds of eacother, the disdistict post punk bass, with airy or lofty synth ala Ultravox or Spanday Ballets debute album

New Wave/Synth Pop, but if I'm wrong, you can shoot that Poison Arrow through my heart. Smile

I enjoyed their second album 'Beauty Stab'. It had a far harder sound than their debut.

I think it killed them commercially though.

Perfect example of New Romantic which is a subsection of the greater new wave genre

Somewhere between new wave and pop, I'd say
Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life

I like the basslines and the funky nature of the band, but also have ELO esque string arrangements, powerfull vocals.
