I wanted to do a complementary poll to John's (Mellotron Storm) Six (CLICK) poll covering different options. Like his poll, hard though it can be, I will ask people to choose just one favoured album. And feel free to vote with limited familiarity. I do not expect this poll to be as popular as the one that this is based on (John's poll). Mine tends to be more limited in terms of variation methinks, and probably tends to be of the too same old, same old variety from me (especially as I did a yearly series not long ago covering much of the same music).

Clearly, most of the ones I have from 1966 and 2006 are not in PA, whereas all of my choices from 1976 are in PA.

1966: Simon and Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence (not in PA)
1966: The Byrds - Fifth Dimension (not in PA)
1966: Ennio Morricone - Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo (not in PA)
1966: Cream - Fresh Cream (not in PA)
1966: John Coltrane - Ascension (not in PA)
1966: Bert Jansch - Jack Orion
1966: The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (not in PA)
1976: Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Osorezan / Dou no Kenbai
1976: Cos - Viva Boma
1976: Picchio dal Pozzo - Picchio dal Pozzo
1976: Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Music From the Penguin Cafe
1976: Popol Vuh - Letzte Tage - Letzte Nächte
1976: Pierrot Lunaire - Gudrun
1976: Klaus Schulze - Moondawn
1976: Far East Family Band - Parallel World
1976: Zanov - Green Ray
1976: Goblin - Roller
1976: Magma - Üdü Ẁüdü
1986: The Camberwell Now - The Ghost Trade
1986: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Your Funeral...My Trial (not in PA)
1986: Siouxsie and The Banshees - Tinderbox (not in PA)
1986: Coil - Horse Rotorvator
1986: The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (not in PA)
1986: Depeche Mode - Black Celebration (not in PA)
1986: Cocteau Twins - Victorialand (not in PA)
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I observed before. It can be much like that with music for me; immersed in experiencing the moment.

I do like your 1976 picks better than mine.
I ended up picking Picchio Dal Pozzo but Cos and Magma are right there. And that's my favourite Popol Vuh record.

Moondawn
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Well, Cocteau Twins in a PA poll! Love Victorialand but I gave it to Camberwell Now (which sadly I paid no attention to at the time...)

Impossible to choose one from these:

1976: Cos - Viva Boma
1976: Picchio dal Pozzo - Picchio dal Pozzo
1976: Zanov - Green Ray
1986: Siouxsie and The Banshees - Tinderbox (not in PA)

Love these just as much, really:

1976: Klaus Schulze - Moondawn
1976: Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Music From the Penguin Cafe
1976: Magma - Üdü Ẁüdü
1976: Pierrot Lunaire - Gudrun

...and well I love these too:

1986: Cocteau Twins - Victorialand (not in PA)
1966: Ennio Morricone - Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo (not in PA)
1976: Far East Family Band - Parallel World
1966: The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (not in PA)

...and these, but to be honest I haven't listened to any of them in ages:

1976: Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Osorezan / Dou no Kenbai
1966: Simon and Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence (not in PA)
1966: The Byrds - Fifth Dimension (not in PA)
1986: Depeche Mode - Black Celebration (not in PA)

To much wonderful and completely different music, so no vote from me:)

Stratosfear from your 1976 picks would have been on my list had you not covered it, and Revolver and Freak Out! from the 60s but it is your 80s list that particularly spoke to me with Shub-Niggurath, Univers Zero, Talk Talk and Miriodor. I have loved all of the 80s album other than Iron Maiden which I just never got into (not that i ever really tried, but I had friend big on it. I can appreciate kinds of metal now much more than I used to.

Cocteau Twins is very dear to me. I only really got into the band over the past few years, but better late than never. It started with hearing again Elizabeth Fraser with Massive Attack on Mezzanine ("Teardrop"), and then I listened to the album heaven or Las Vegas and then all of the others. I find various Cocteau Twin music comparable to certain Dead Can Dance, which I already was big on.

On a side-note: Some might complain about seeing it in Prog polls, but since 2009 at least, we have been allowed to mention more than Prog or recognised as Prog music here, but most of a poll should be recognised as prog, proto, or related (ideally the main focus, otherwise General Music Discussions). No doubt I have moved more threads into other forums than anyone else, probably by a very long shot.

And a seminal album. Such a classic.

And I was going to put Miles Davis' Miles Smiles in a 60s slot, but then recalled that John had covered Davis in a very recently posted-in poll of his.

Choosing one would be futile for me too. I was tempted to make it multiple votes, like vote for up to five, but I wanted to do this similarly to John's polls that inspired this, I know some like the challenge of choosing one and it's a post like yours that means much, much more to me than seeing votes in the poll. As it should be, that takes a lot more effort.

By the way, it was you bringing up Penguin Cafe Orchestra for a topic that really got me listening to the band again, and super falling for it. I have subsequently listened to those first three albums so much, and Union Cafe is much liked. I guess the self-titled is the one that I have spun the most.
