This Ozzy thing got me thinking. Were Sabbath the last *internationally famous, hugely successful* band around since 1970 or earlier who still had all of their original line-up alive in 2025?
Are there any bands who were together by 1970 and had all members intact as of this year? Not necessarily performing or active, but just all alive? I can't think of anyone but Sabbath who fit that criteria if we're talking about legacy bands (local/regional bands don't count) I'm sure you guys will think of a few ![]() |

Until Neil Peart's death in 2020 Rush were the only intact prog rock band left.
That's all I got. |

^ Genesis? Though Phil Collins isn't in the best of health these days, sadly.
Edit: Until 2021 all the former Kansas members were still going, but we lost violinist Robby Steinhardt to pancreatitis in July of that year. Edited by yam yam - July 23 2025 at 22:19 |

I think the original members of Sparks are still alive.

The original lineup of Kaipa. Sadly, Hans Lundin isn't in good terms with Roine Stolt, as he has refused joining Kaipa da Capo to record new material a few times, so the chances for any reunion before someone kicks the bucket, are dead as shіt.

The original trio lineup of SBB (Skrzek, Lakis, Piotrowski) are alive, as of now.

Genesis...I was thinking Phil joined in '71, but you're right....it was '70.
SBB formed in '71, but close enough! Didn't know Aerosmith were formed and active by '70. Good one. |

The Herbie Hancock Sextet, that recorded those popular psychedelic fusion albums, released their first album in 1971, so possibly the band was in existence in 1970. The band members are all still around and still performing with other artists.

The Ramones are the opposite of what you are looking for, since all 4 original members have died. They formed in 1974, so not quite 1970. I guess this would be for a separate thread asking for bands where all of the members have died.

ELPowell are more on topic for a Prog Website.
It looks like all of Slade's original members are still alive. Also, it appears that all of Wishbone Ash's original members are still alive. I cheated and did a Google search and found a Quora thread had been created about 5 years ago that listed bands from the 60s and 70s where all of the members are still alive. Many of the bands listed have since lost at least one member. ZZTop, Golden Earring, Kraftwerk, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Jeff Beck Group; Black Sabbath; UFO; Country Joe & the Fish. |

If 1973 is close enough for a band formation, Kiss meets the criteria.
