What does anyone think of the new Focus DVDs? What do you think of the new Focus? I think Thijs just needed the money although I like the old footage. The new guitar player is no Jan Akkerman by far.

I saw Focus support Caravan about 18 months ago & although Caravan were on a very good night, Focus blew them off stage (as a small aside - we now know what Tjis has been doing for the last couple of decades - eating pies!!!).

True, the current lineup is more or less the Tjis Van Leer band, but they are excellent musicians nonetheless (although Mr Akermaan is missed).

As far as the DVD's go, I have the one from NYC, which is very good in its way, but didn't catch them on their best night; I would recommend seeing the band if yuou get the chance, as when they're good, they're very good indeed & TVL is still as inspirational a player as ever - a bit thicker around the midriff (aren't we all), but wonderful to listen to.

 I own both DVDs and almost all their CDs and went to see them in Montreal about 1 year ago great show ; Tjise Great Charisma .
