hey guys. i used to download a lot of live shows from this site: http://www.archive.org/details/audio

just today, i revisited the site and realized that they have a lot of post-rock bands on there. you can download lots of live shows for free (all legally i might add). the download speeds are really good, and they are unofficial bootlegs of very good quality. some of the bands you might know are:

  • Godspeed You! Black Emperor
  • Dredg
  • Explosions in the Sky
  • Mogwai
  • Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
  • A Silver Mt. Zion
  • Frogg Cafe
  • String Cheese Incident
  • Decemberists
  • DJ Logic
  • Bela Fleck
  • and many many more.....

they feature a lot of post-rock bands and jam bands too. check it out!

you will need an audio converter by the way. most of the shows are in .shn or .flac format. these are only compressed about 50% from the original wav files, so you'd either want to burn them to cd or convert to mp3. i can post codecs for these file formats if anyone is interested. enjoy!

Cool, I already knew about that site.  Do you know how uploading works?  I noticed there are no prog bands from the '70s.  I have some shows by Floyd, Tull, Yes, GG, etc. that I would be happy to upload to the site.  Does anyone know if it is legal to do that for these artists (I know the Allman Brothers don't allow it)?

yeah i would guess that the site has to have the permission of the band to post their concerts. it would be cool to have shows from 70's prog bands though.

I'm pretty sure Floyd, Yes & GG should all be fine in theory, given that they're up on dimeadozen. I think the archive asks permission individually though, since it's a bit different to normal trading.
