I'd like to hear opinions on the King Crimson Album; 'Lizard'.  Personally I think it contains some of the most interesting and affecting music that this band ever put out.  My only complaint is the vocals, the majority of which I really don't like.  The exception would be the Jon Anderson track, Prince Rupert Awakes, which is amazing.  If Jon had done all the vocals I think that this would rank as the best Crimson album outside of Red.  Am I alone in feeling this way?  Any Comments?

If Jon Anderson had done the vocals for all the songs, that would have been amazaing. But yea Gordon Haskell isn't the best singer KC has had.

I generally enjoy this album, but I think that KC's best effort out of the Sinfeild era is probably in this order

1.)Islands
2.)In the Court of the Crimson King
3.)Lizard
4.)In the Wake of Posiedon

Yea but it is a good effort in time were KC was having trouble keeping a line-up togther.

I really like "Lizard" and think it is a strong effort:

If I were to rate the Sinfield era, I'd rate them:

Court

Wake

Lizard

Islands (some tracks are excellent, but as a whole it is a rather dispirited affair)

Gordon Haskell is really an awfull singer. Despite of this I enjoy Lizard and I prefer it over "In the wake of Poseidon" or "Islands"

The vocals aren't the best, but musically it is brilliant; very innovative.

I have no problem with Haskell´s voice...I enjoy him in Circus
Lizard is my third Favorite KC album...I think it´s pretty strong, much like ITCOTKC

I think John Wetton was worse than Gordon Haskell in terms of singing.

Gordon's voice is fine for me. Fit's the mood and different style of the music.

Lizard is a great album. I love the complexities of the music timing and the jazz/fusion themes. Keith Tippets Piano work and Jon Anderson's vocals are for me, the highlight of Lizard. This may have been the last collaboration with Pete Sinfield but this album is an indicator of the style of music that was to follow in successive albums. Though not my favourite KC album, it stands up there well with the best. It is a pity that Lizard is overlooked by many Prog music fans because it is an important album in the continued development of progressive rock.

nice album, i like circus and dancing water; the epic is a masterpiece, a quite perfect mixture of rock, jazz and classical music; voice is still ok in my opinion

It's alright, but out of Lizard, ItCotCk, Wake of Poseidon, Starless and BB, and LTiA, it is my least favorite.  Cirkus is a pretty good song with a cool melody, in which the vocals have slowly grown on me over time.  Don't really care for the subject matter or lyrics though, apart from the first verse.

Indoor games is not a song I particularly like.  The instrumental parts I find to be annoying (I'm not huge on this jazzy stuff.)  Melodies are alright, especially the bridge.

Happy Family has cool instrumental parts.  That's it, I hate the melody., if that's what you want to call a melody.

Lady... is alright, a little to fluttery in some parts, and the worst of Crimso's ballady songs.  OK song.

Lizard has some cool parts, and the only part I don't particularly like is the Peacock's Tale, the long jazzy section:  I think if they took that out, this could have been one of the great epics of prog.
