Im interested in diversifying my music dvd collection and getting a Yes dvd seems to me the logical choice.  Which would you recommend? (considering my fave is "CLose to THe Edge" followed by "RElayer" and things of that era.)

I heard the "YESSONGS" dvd is horrible, but i own the album (which is amazing) so im unsure. Also if possible, i would like to see the band in their prime.

anything im missing?.......OH YES! (forgive the pun!) WAKEMAN PLEASE.

Apparently (and I haven't seen any Yes DVDs myself so I may not be a great adviser) the symphonic one (without Wakeman, though) is the best one to go for; it's the one I'm planning on getting anyway. If I can remember rightly they have done 2 symphonic DVDs, the first of which was a more pop one and the second of which concentrated on Close to the Edge, Relayer, Tales etc. Don't trust me though, ask someone who actually knows.

i also want to see a live show of yes in their prime in the yessongs era. WHY AREN'T THERE ANY?

The yesyears DVD is excellent. It's a documentary on the band's history, made around the time of the "Union" album. It's well worth seeing for the archive footage and background info. There aren't any official live DVDs of their old stuff, although "Live in Philadelpia" is from the late 70's I think.

I'd say "Yesspeak" is the least essential. It's a long series of current interviews. Worth seeing once, but that's about it.

"Yessymphonic" is wonderful. I'm not sure what the "other" Symphonic DVD Goose means is, although there is a "Symphonic music of Yes" CD which is completely different to "Yessymphonic"! "Keys to ascension" features the classic line up, and some great versions of "Awaken" and "Starship trooper" among many others.

Keys To Ascension DVD is very good,with that excellent version of Starship Trooper.

Isn't there a DVD of the Yes gig from QPR football ground in 1974? That's supposed to be good although it does feature Patrick Moraz rather than RW so doesn't fit all the criteria.

Yes Richardh Yes at QPR is really an excellent DVD, taken from a lasser disk, so the recording is not perfect, but who cares, you can listen more than three hours of Yes Classics, including all Relayer.

Patrick Moraz is fu**ing perfect, does the Wakeman parts as well as Rick and his solo is absolutely brilliant.

The stage was designed by Roger Dean and the show is great, starts in a sunny afternoon and ends in a dark night, it's historic and musical value is very high.

Fits all the criteria for me

I was thinking QPR or Yessongs as well...QPR has some sound troube, mix-wise, but still great!
