I used to be a little disappointed with the last Marillion albums after Afraid Of Sunlight, but now I've got a copy of Marbles and I have loved it! I don't know if it is prog or not but it's really good quality music. I have the single CD album. My question is: is it worth to get the 2 CD version of Marbles?

It certinaly isn't entirely prog, but it is still very good I think. Ocean Cloud is damned good.

I just put my hands on 'Marbles Live' pretty astonishing! Very different from their 80s releases!

I would highly recommend the 2 disc version. "Ocean Cloud" is worth it
alone; however, "Genie" and "The Only Unforgivable Thing" are excellent songs, too. I, too, have Marbles By The Sea (2 disc version performed live) and it's equally amazing! In regards to later discs, I never really cared for DotCom; but, listened to it last week and really enjoyed it. Not as good as Anoraknophobia and Marbles, though. These last two studio albums reassures me that these guys have once again found their swagger. E |

EddieTrooper, if I were you, I'd buy Marbles by the Sea now, because, like E-Dub mentions, it's a live version of the whole 2CD version. In my opinion Genie and The Only Unforgivable Thing are great tracks, Ocean Cloud good (by the way, it lasts 18 minutes, the longest track in the whole Marillion repertoire, pure prog) and The Damage not very much to my liking. So, I'd say that by getting either the live or the studio 2CD version, the 4 bonus tracks will be worth your money.

I like all their albums after Afraid of Sunlight, EXCEPT for This strange Engine, which is my least favourite. Not that bad, but simply not as good as the others. I love Marillion.com actually.
Marbles though has a better flow as a one disc album, but you would've missed out on Ocean Cloud, which is my favourite track of that album!

The version of Grendal off of the Script.. 2CD SE is over 19 minutes, but thats nit-picking.
Marbles is a really good album and though I dont have much H era albums I hear Marbles was very much a return to form for them.
