I have a few posts already, having registered for like two weeks. I had some doubts about posting in the newbie section, but here goes... after all, it's nice to introduce yourself when you join a community you're happy to become a part of.
I'm from Romania, twenty years old. I'm a student and I also play the drums in a local band. I've been listening to prog for about six years now (and I prefer it although there's a lot of non-prog I enjoy as well)- I started with classic 70's bands and prog metal in parallel, slowly making my way into new and less accessible subgenres. I seem to be on a long and extremely rewarding journey, as I still have a lot of things to discover, both new and old. I'm very happy and grateful to be able to understand such challenging and inspiring music, and I think I owe a lot of who I am today to the discovery of this "alternative universe". When I learned about PA and other prog websites, I understood I wasn't as lonely as I'd thought - there actually are people out there who know and cherish the same values as I do, and it's wonderful to know that.
My favourite bands right now are King Crimson, Dream Theater, ARK, Yes, The Mars Volta, Jethro Tull, VdG Generator, Pink Floyd, Fates Warning, Threshold, Mercury Rev, Ice Age, Echolyn, Thinking Plague, GY!BE, Porcupine Tree, Arcturus, Death, Cynic, Psychotic Waltz... and about a few hundred more.
Well, that's about all - just to leave a mark and make myself feel at home. Thanks for listening. Smile

This is probably the only "machine" I want to be a part of.
