I agree on all that, but someone who knows more than me about the whole post-punk scene, maybe you, could make the poll.

With the bands you mentioned and: Bauhaus, Tuxedo Moon, Killing Joke, Throbbing Gristle, XTC, Siouxie and the Banshees, Television, Devo, Cure, Joy Division, Suicide, Stranglers etc... I know of all these bands, but don't really know them that well.

I think The Police are more prog-related-related that the bands you mentioned, Rocktopus - Andy Summers played with Fripp and Soft Machine, while Stewart Copeland played with Curved Air (he was also married to Sonja Kristina, perhaps still is). The same goes for Talking Heads, with which Adrian Belew collaborated for some time.

BTW, out of your list I quite like The Stranglers and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
