Orphaned Land. Israeli metal band. they play Middle-Eastern Folk Metal. Their album Mabool is one of the best album ever.
I recommend it. You can search them here: Edited by TheProgtologist - June 28 2006 at 12:23 |

^ the first track on the myspace page is from Mabool. And as for the others ... well, it's always interesting to see where a band is coming from.

OL are really a great band. I have heard a few songs and they sound very interesting with a sort of Mid East influence running through their music.
Itīs great to hear an original band!

Mabool it's Middle-Eastern Folk album. The others are Doomdeath. I don't hate death metal, i just hate that combination with doom. Edited by DreamTheater - June 28 2006 at 07:32 |

So you're trying to say that Mabool is Middle-Eastern Folk/Death, and the others are DoomDeath? |

Yeah.
Becuse after their 2 Full Albums ("Sahara, "El Norra Alila"), they switch genre. Edited by DreamTheater - June 29 2006 at 03:15 |

Mabool is actually a progressive melodic folk death metal album
The other two and the EP are not that doomy actually... still solid, yet a little more dry and less inspired melodeath with folk influences...

What do you mean?
They have been known in all metal circles for some years now, actually since their first EP and album after that.
Plus, I know them since I am currently living in the same country as you...(not for long though).
I met Uri Zilca in the Metal Shop in Tel Aviv several times (he worked there).
They have a gig planned on July 29th where they will celelbrate 10 years for the release of El Nora Alila and it will also celebrating Uri's birthday.

Did people here listen to the bonus cd in Mabool where the band plays live several acoustic versions of their songs, plus the cover of Paradise lost Mercy/Gothic and a medley of their songs from El Nora Alila etc ?
A very nice addition to the album, imo.
