I went to work today and I had to travel to a work site. My assistant is around 60 and he is not a real music buff in the true defination. Anyway, I'm driving along listening to Porcupine Tree's Deadwing. Out of the blue, and this has never happened before. He asked me, "who is this?" and I siad, "Porcupine Tree." He said, " I like this, it sounds like the Moody Blues."
Ha Ha, I love it when a old bugger comes to life and gives his opinion. What do you think? Is he correct in his observation?

I'm not sure it's really safe for Old Buggers to listen to such music. Indeed, I seem to recall Deadwing being on the proscribed list.........in any case, if he is indeed "around 60", surely his opinion, especially in musical matters, should be firmly, but tactfully, rejected.........

.........Sincerely, Crimson Thing (who still has most of his teeth & some hair).........and has a copy of Deadwing, which is OK, certainly better than In Absentia, but not a patch on The Power to Believe.........Wink

Those two albums can hardly be compared. When it comes to driving in a car, I'd choose Deadwing anytime ...

An early Porcupine Tree album would make me sleepy and that's no good if you're driving!

In Absentia has been in my car all week, I love driving to that album.  The week before I had the The Bends  in my car, which is also another great album to drive to.

Does it really matter if a band reminds someone of another band?

In the grand scheme of things....................no.

Just curious, that's all. I would have never thought Moody Blues, but the old guy did. Smile
