In 1978 I went to the annual Dutch Pinkpop Festival to see Journey but eventually I was mostly impressed by Thin Lizzy, what a power, energy, great dual-guitarplay and .. wonderful voice by Phil Lynott! This week I bought the DVD entitled Gary Moore & Friends One Night In Dublin A Tribute To Phil Lynott, full circle! It contains great renditions of Thin Lizzy classics like Jailbreak, Cowboy Song, The Boys Are Back In Town and Whiskey In The Jar and guest performances by Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham and Eric Bell. In the song Parissienne Walkways Gary Moore delivers a great build-up guitar solo with mindblowing howling licks and sustain!

I hope to share my excitement with more Thin Lizzy fans on this site?!

I saw them in 1977 on their "Bad Reputation" tour and it was one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen.

The Dvd you mentioned sounds really good, I think I will have to investigate this one!

I also like some of their old stuff like "Vagabonds of the western world" and "Nightlife"

Well, you both know what I think of Gary Moore... I recently bought his 1984 live album "We Want Moore" (which I already knew very well), and it's quite mindblowing, featuring Ian Paice on drums to boot.

As to that DVD, of course I've read glowing reviews, and it wouldn't be a bad idea at all to get it. I saw Lizzy's last performance at Reading Festival in 1983, and they smoked everyone else there (especially the Gillan-led Black Sabbath... though Steve Ray Vaughan (RIPCry) sure enough held his own. Pity for the extremely tasteless idea of resurrecting the band without Lynott (that's just like Queen without Freddie or The Doors without Jim Angry) - John Sykes may be a great guitarist, but he sure is a heartless, money-grabbing b*****d (nice hair, though).

The atmosphere on this DVD is great, it's a home-game (Dublin) and you can feel that, especially on the classic tracks Jailbreak and the almost moving Whiskey In The Jar featuring Eric Bell on his Fender Stratocaster guitar and vocals Thumbs Up !
