Topic: Last Rainbow Poll Posted: July 27 2006 at 09:37 |
I voted for Stranger in us all, it really has some standout songs like "Ariel" and "Hall of the mountain King"
The one song that spoils Down to Earth is "Since you been gone". Other than that it is still a good album.

Greg, it seems we're the only ones to vote in these polls... BTW, it's "Down to Earth" for me, though I perfectly agree about the awful "Since You Been Gone". Still, there's Cozy and Don Airey to compensate for it..

let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

AAh... the pain, the pain! Ritchie, why? Why? BTW, "Eyes of the World" is really amazing!

I voted for "Down to Earth" because it's shorter and it was my first Rainbow album.
Both albums are pretty weak for such a good band like Rainbow, though both have their moments.
Add here "Straight Between The Eyes" and we'll get Rainbow's "unholy trinity".
BTW "All Night Long" isn't much better than "Since You've Been Gone".

'Down To Earth' is a credible hard/melodic rock album- hardly up to the Dio era but has its moments nonetheless. Not heard the other album, but I don't get the JLT era, really.

I'm not a great fan of Graham Bonnet's vocals, but he sounds wonderful in comparison with the nasal tones of JLT. I worship Ritchie, but I really can't understand why JLT was his favourite vocalist... I guess even gods have their weaknesses.
