well I'm sure your friends will give you great advice on prog.. and before too long.. Rush will be a distant memory to you once you discover REAL prog hahahhah..

welcome aboard and check out the RPI/ISP section... home to more great prog groups than you can shake a stick at.

At least you didn't edit out Rush in my post. Ugh I am actually getting sick of listening to them. Shocked I mean 3 hours of live Rush is one thing but listening to two different ones in a row. Is  bit over the top.

So true.

When I joined, Rush were in my top 3.  Now, they aren't even in my top 30.  Still a good band that I listen to from time-to-time.

for all my joking and kidding ...  I was a DIE-HARD Rush fanatic as a youth..  I do listen to them from time to time..but  I have no use for their stuff post Signals.. and do think there is a definite prog cut off point for them which is much earlier than most people think (Hemispheres... not Moving Pictures which is an AOR album.. plain and simple) Permanent Waves being a transition album.. thus not fully prog..  They are a great group... and paid them the complement in AR team thread of calling them one of the perfect examples of 'art rock'  Anyway.. enough nice stuff said about Rush.. I have an image to uphold.. and want to keep my dinner down..

Don't you have anything better to do in the evenings than resurrecting old threads and sl*gging Rush off?AngryTongue You're the co-leader of the coolest Specialist Team on PA, and have an image to uphold as that, not as a Rush-basher.... In case you haven't noticed, the Prog Lounges are full of DT threads again!LOL

you forgot leader of the most ...err... exotic specialist team here at PA's as well. LOL My image serves me well...  crack pot and endless joker..  until I have to throw the 'demi-god of prog' hammer down on someone  LOL  DT threads.. pffff.... soon they will be drowned out by the wave of RPI threads which will inundate these very pages of PA's.  I do need some minions and synchophants here. Plan on doing some PA's recruiting when in Italy hahahha. Speaking of the trip... Who knows.. maybe we can line up an interview with Le Orme if we go see them in Milan.  I'd have not a few questions for them LOL

So then...you never really got them, did you.  Shocked   Wink

I was exposed to KC, ELP, Yes, and Genesis before Rush, thanks to an older brother. When I first heard Rush, I never looked back. I tried to get into the other  bands, but they just didn't sound as good to me, for whatever reason. Over the years, I have been exposed to countless Prog bands, but again, none surpassed the Canadian trio, at least in my book. They, to me, are almost perfect examples of musicians who progressed both individually and as a collective.
