    Both are guitarists with their own "wild" technique, both are leaders and creators of most of music performed by their bands, both play(ed) cca deathmetal mixed with some other genres, both are crawling leadsingers, so who is(was) better?

Without one shadow of a doubt Schuldiner(RIP).The man was brilliant,he practically invented death metal.

^ agreed. Maybe Laiho is more versatile, but we can only speculate how Schuldiner's playing would have evolved after the Control Denied album.

In terms of sheer mind boggling shred ability, one has to give it to Alexi (especially considering he's, what, 24?), but Chuck was a far more interesting composer.

Definitely Chuck for me, some of my guitar work with Death. I can not relate to Children Of Bodom songwriting at all (for me, listening to one cheesy band is enough, and my pick was DragonforceEmbarrassedTongue).
