They promised me cookies, so naturally I joined, I'm still awaiting my fist cookie, but my brother told me you have to allow cookies on your computer to get them, so I probably have to reset my firewall to allow for the cookies to get through.

hope they are langevingers,. love them with a nice cup of tea.

Of course I come here mainly for the prog.

But what is so wrong about making friends with people on the Archives and having discussions with them? The main site is about the prog for me, but the board (and the VR in particular) is about the people

Came for the prog, stayed because this site is full of good folk with interesting things to say (mostly about prog, yes ... but also about non-prog music and non-music topics).

Most other web forums are filled with what I will politely call "sketchy people".

When I first visited the site (somewhere in 2004) I was really interested in having found such a web-site. I discovered lots of bands for which I had no clue about.
Actually, I re-discovered prog here after a huge break.

Recently, there were a lot of inclus-ion of bands ranked in proto-prog and prog-related which was somewhere a deviation for me.
Some of them are beloved bands of mine for more than thirty years (Heep, Purple, Led Zep, Santana etc.). So, since they are included, I like to talk about them and review their work as well.

So, today, I consult the site for non-prog bands as well.

Cheers.

Pretty much my story too - when I joined, the site was considerably smaller, so it was easier to chat to those people I hit it off with - as a result, I've made some firm friends around the world, none of whom I've actually met yet, but this is hopefully to change this coming summer.

No!!!  Absolutely freakin' not!!!!!!!!!    Who gives a hoot about prog?!?!

I am being here because I was expecting young underaged girls (and I rather like young girls Pig). At first, I couldn't have cared less about the music but I was told they loved prog especially this bald ex-drummer that belonged to a boys band before he had his better days.

So I fell into the trap.

And I stayed.

Still don't care about prog

But I getr loads of underaged girlsThumbs%20UpApproveCoolTongue

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

With me, it's Peter Rideout & Dan Bobrowski, both of whom I hope to meet in July

Bands I've descovered from this site:

King Crimson
Godspeed You! Black Emperor (knew of, never bothered to listen to their music)
Premiata Forneria Marconi
Banco del Mutuo Soccorso
Museo Rosenbach
Quella Vecchia Locanda
Semiramis
Il Rovescio della Medaglia
Can (this is the band that led me to this site)
Amon Duul II
Ashra
Ash Ra Tempel
Agitation Free
Faust
Kluster
Cluster
Popol Vuh
Tangerine Dream
Kraftwerk (knew of, never explored their music)
Brian Eno
Klaus Schulze
Edgar Froese
Yellow Magic Orchestra
Pink Floyd (got me into them after I sampled "Welcom To The Machine")
Dun
Magma

...and perhaps more. This site also helped me find out who I don't like.

So yes, I am here for the prog :).

the weird thing is, there ARE actually 4 votes for the No option... what the hell is that? I mean, if you want to go to a random site to make friends, why pick a prog-rock site..... it would be much easier in a pop or rap site... having in mind that we proggers are considered pretentious and snobbish....
