Wouldn't anyone always wish a song was better composed. I mean if a song could be better, why wouldn't you want it to be?

Generally no, it depends on the band, or even only on the song.

No, there's a lot of good composers in prog metal.

I've heard just as many bad songs ffrom prog metal as I have from any other genre.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

Of course, but you can find flaws in every genre, not just prog-metal....

It depends...when I listen to Adagio (which I dont do really, as I gave the album away to a friend...who didnt liked it too heheh) I say "ok, now this is a good example of how virtuosism just doesnt make a song work on its own"...man is Adagio badly composed
on the other hand bands like Pain of Salvation, Beyond Twilight and specially Opeth surprise me when it comes to compositions

At least 5 times too, but I never could hear the whole album at once...I really did not like Adagio, there was nothing new to it, normally, more than in any other prog genre, what I look for in prog metal is innovation...Adagio had none and then some
