The right work/life balance is essential, I think, to maintain some kind of sanity; I've refused about 4 or 5 promotions in the last year or so (although I did take one in the end) - as far as I'm concerned, career ambition is something to concern other people. The further you travel up the corporate ladder, the easier it is for the snipers to spot you.

My job has recently started to suck really hard. Ouch
