ANTHEMON

I'm not sure if this band has been recommended before, but it is a shame that the band has not been recognized on the site. It is a French progressive metal band with two powerhouse releases--Dystopia and Kadavreski. The band was conceived in 1997 but really began to shine with the release of Dystopia in 2004. Their website has the following to say about the release...

"...released in November 2004, shows a huge evolution of the band. By mixing their vast panel of influences through a more progressive, darker, and increasingly personal music, the members of the band won the bet to describe the terrible world created in the lyrics, where freedom of men is nothing but an illusion."

Their next release came a year later, and was titled Kadavreski (contraction of "cadavre exquis", or "exquisite corpse").

"By proposing 4 titles, one of them lasting 23 minutes, divided into A Side and B side as some kind of tribute to the progressive rock giants of the seventies, this new album, shows ANTHEMON at its best. Very melodic and abundant in arrangements, "Kadavreski" is distinguished from its predecessors from his larger stylistic variety and an overall more violent and darker approach."

You can check out more about them on their website: http://www.anthemon.com They have a few short samples posted there and an edited track from Kadavreski.

Aside from this addition, there's no reason fans of progressive metal should miss Mindflow's two CD releases available to download for free from their website @ http://www.mindflow.com.br/downloads/index.html Their second release Mind Over Body should immediately be added to any prog-metal fan's collection.

I thought anthemon were epic doom. I know Kadavreski opens with a big extended-length track with lots of keys, perhaps that's enough ;)
