Prog sub-genre:
Jazz Rock/Fusion

Country
:
Portugal, 1976-82

Band:

 Luis Firmino - guitar
Manuel Barreto - keyboards
Vasco Alves - bass
Necas - drums
Manuel Garcia - sax

discoghraphy:
Regresso às Origens (1979)
Privado (1980)

In the first formation of the band (1976) they played covers of Genesis, Pink Floyd
Camel, Manfred Mann. They played so well that sounded like the original!
By the year of 1979 the band reformed and get an discographic contract. They record some singles:
"Disco sound", "Verme", "Fascínio" and "Salto no tempo". It seems that the company forced them to
do this singles... They wanted more quality!...
They called the sax player Manuel Garcia and they record "Regresso às origens" LP.
They've done some appearance on TV side a side with Tantra and Rão Kyao...
The band recorded "Privado" in 1980 but in English (sadly)... the emergence of Pop killed Ananga-ranga...

(I don't know how to share an MP3 song in here for to listen)

Good call, good luck trying to get them in. I sent submissions for Banda do Casaco, Quarteto 1111 and Saga (seminal portuguese prog groups) 6 months ago, no reply. How long are these thing supposed to take, anyway? Dead

Anangaranga were in my second  batch, along with some modern stuff like Miosotis, Samuel Jerónimo and Trape-Zappe.

There is still a lot of great portuguese prog out there to be rediscovered and possibly added to the archives...

Oh, it also included two MP3 files to put in the stream for the band Petrus Castrus, already in the archives.

My apologies - I sent you an email asking for the genres for each band and you did reply but for some reason your reply didn't get picked up. Could you upload the MP3s again as the link has expired and I'll pass it on to the relevant teams. My apologies again.

We received a submission for Banda Do Casaco from somebody else but there were no MP3s with it. I sent a reply back asking for some MP3s on Feb 26 but didn't hear anything further.Perhaps that's where I got confused.

No problem, Chopp. Do you want just the MP3's, or the whole shebang?

If it's just the link for the MP3, do I post it here or send it privately by e-mail or PM?

I've got all the documents etc, so I just need the MP3s. Just email the link to the band.submissions gmail address and I'll pick it up from there.
