Topic: Camel Posted: August 02 2007 at 11:42 |
I've never really listened to Camel, but from the little I've heard I liked. What I need help with are recommendations from people who listed to them, and know of a good place to start. A couple good of songs, what years are there best, what albums there best? Things like that. Any help would be much appreciated.

I would suggest you start with Moonmadness and then go on to The Snow Goose and Mirage.

mine is completely opposite,.
I started with 'Mirage', 'Snowgoose' and then 'Moonmadness',

I am a huge Camel fan, especially from the Seventies sound, my favorites are Mirage and Moonmadness and I love the live CD On The Road 1972. A very good compilation is the 2-CD entitled Lunar Sea An Anthology 1973-1985 featuring great tracks like A Song Within A Song, Lady Fantasy and Ice (his best guitar solo ever)

I would suggest getting both Mirage and Moonmadness, to see which side of Camel you prefer. Personally, I don't like Moonmadness at all, but I love Mirage and the Snow Goose. Some people here feel the complete opposite, so I guess it's best to try both and see where your tastes fall.

Get the first four. If you like those, get the last two. And end there.
