NEW SIGNING TO FESTIVAL MUSIC

We are extremely pleased to announce the signing of Citizen Cain to 
Festival Music. For those of you who are not aware of the band, they have 
previously released 5 CD's - Serpents In Camouflage, Somewhere But 
Yesterday, Raising The Stones, Playing Dead, plus a CD of earlier material 
called Ghost Dance. Style wise, they can probably be best described as 
heavily influenced by early Genesis and Marillion, driven by the vocals of 
Cyrus and the keyboard playing of Stewart Bell.

Festival Music will be re-releasing the first four CD's as well as making 
them, and Ghost Dance, available as digital downloads from 
www.progrock.co.uk. Both the re-releases and digital downloads will be sold 
at a price you won't be able to resist! More news regarding their 
re-release date and the availability of the digital downloads coming soon!

The best news of all is that Citizen Cain are currently working on a new CD 
of new material and Festival Music will be releasing this in late 2008!

Delays in deliveries

Please be aware that we are still experiencing some postal delays in the 
UK. We have been assured by the Post Office that their service is back to 
normal following their strike action, but we do know that any orders sent 
between the dates of 09/10/2007 and 18/10/2007 have been badly delayed 
being delivered. Many orders from the 10/10/2007 are only now being 
delivered. This effects almost all of the pre-orders for the new Manning CD 
'Songs From The Bilston House' as well as many of the orders for the latest 
Flower Kings CD 'The Sum Of No Evil'. Everything should be back to normal 
now, and the Post Office say that all orders posted now will be delivered 
as usual, so we can get back to the fast service that you have got used to 
from progrock.co.uk! Thanks for your patience.

TWELFTH NIGHT - REUNION GIGS!

Exciting news about 80's Prog legends Twelfth Night! They will be playing 
two reunion gigs this month - the first time that they will have played 
together in over 20 years! The concerts will take place at The Peel, 
Kingston-on-Thames, London on 17 November 2007 (www.peelmuzik.com) and The 
Albany, Deptford, London on 24 November 2007 (www.thealbany.org.uk) and 
both will be recorded and filmed for a CD / DVD release in 2008. The show 
will be two and a half hours long and include material from throughout the 
band's history, including, for the first time ever, their classic 'Fact And 
Fiction' album as a single seamless piece, as it was originally conceived.

Both gigs promise to be great events and tickets are currently selling very 
fast! Do not miss them!

RIVERSIDE PLAY THE UK!

Another recommended gig: Polish band Riverside play Lydney Town Hall on 29 
November 2007. Promoting their great new CD 'Rapid Eye Movement' (available 
from www.progrock.co.uk for just GBP 9.99, or the special edition for just 
GBP 11.99 including postage!) and supported by Also Eden, it should be a 
great night!

Manning's new release 'Songs From Bilston House' still tops the chart with 
the Flower Kings and Glass Hammer swapping in positions 2 and 3 almost 
daily! The only new entry is Blackfield, with their new DVD 'Live in New 
York City', in at number 6. All releases in the 'Best Seller' chart are 
recommended listening!

The debut CD by Bittertown will be a concept album called 'Scenes From The Box', with great guitar and keyboard solos, and powerful, emotive vocals by three vocalists taking on different roles within the compelling concept. 	TWELFTH NIGHT SIGN TO FESTIVAL MUSIC We are extremely pleased to officially announce the signing of a worldwide deal with TWELFTH NIGHT, one of the most important and exciting Prog bands to come out of the 80s Progressive Rock Revival in the UK. Recent concerts have given rise to a renewed interest in the band, their back catalogue and their forthcoming live DVD, and we are honoured to be working with them. TWELFTH NIGHT formed in 1979 and became regulars at the Marquee Club, London, touring extensively over the years and releasing a number of critically acclaimed albums. Brian Devoil, drummer and founder member of the band said 'Signing with Festival Music is a very positive move for us, and we are delighted to be working with such an enthusiastic label. Credo - the band got crowd ovations and everyone I talked too thought it was an amazing show. Second best concert of this weekend for me. And this band won themselves new fans by the bucketful this morning, the band are probably busy counting money from CD-sales still ;-) Credo was also a treat - enthusiastic, personable and really tasteful guitar work - exceeding expectations. Credo - Sunday morning is a tough slot for obvious reasons (those damn moomin again). Credo did exactly what is necessary to win the crowd over. They played a high energy set with passion and humour. Did I enjoy the show? Absolutely. Great music, great people, great fun...who could ask for anything more? The one that moved me was The Letter by Credo. It was like a chill and the hair on my arms stood on end Credo was awesome Sunday morning. They put on a very good performance and really got the sleepy 11AM crowd into it with some humour. Other highlights where the friendly and amusing Credo putting on a great performance in the slot that demands a high standard, my wife's favourite band of the weekend with her "sounds like Marillion" comment, to me I can see the similarities but was amply unique enough for me to make it not a turn off. Credo were simply impeccable. Crunchy prog, an awesome singer with much passion and a fabulous sense of humour. Great harmonies, a very tight band. Sensational band! They simple blew everyone's socks off yesterday morning, and for the first time I can remember, I was so happy for a band that tears welled up when I saw their amazed and elated reaction to the crowd. My vote for the single most riveting performer: Patrik Lundstrom of Ritual followed by Mark Colton of Credo. Credo - Another fabulous wake up set! Mark was a riot on stage and totally won the crowd over with his stories before we even had the chance to enjoy the Rhetoric tracks. Loved the story about his son asking why a fan shot John Lennon and Mark explained that the fan shot John because he liked his music and Mark's son replied, "Daddy, I hope they don't like you in America." Kudos to Credo. Hope to see you back in the States soon. Credo What a nice surprise!!! These guys are awesome, as well as humorous!! Given the RoSFest tradition of having an energetic band open the day on Sunday, I was not surprised that Credo put on such a great show. Their front man was funny and engaging and the music was played with enthusiasm and great chops. I had already bought their album based on the strength of the one song I'd heard from them, and I'm glad I didn't have to stand in their huge merch line after the show. My second favourite act of the weekend, behind Ritual. They played all of the Rhetoric album and announced that it was the last time they'd be doing that. Tim Birrell of Credo probably had the best sound of all the guitarists at RoSFest. Number Ten is crammed full of memorable music and lyrics covering a wide variety of styles from wildly rocky to quiet ballad, from symphonic epic to introspective piano pieces. With its iconic 10 Downing Street front cover which is embellished by musical instruments and a strange mystical shape (which appears again and again throughout the artwork), this album is nicely turned out. Andy (Tangent) Tillison returns to do a great job on the production side and makes the music leap out of the speakers at you with clarity and punch. Overall a Highly Recommended addition to the large back catalog for this still relatively unknown yet prolific and talented artist! (ProgArchives) ---- Ten years and ten albums is quite a record for Manning but with this tenth release, called funnily enough, Number Ten, Guy Manning has probably produced his most complete album to date. A sweeping statement maybe, but having been a keen follower of Guy's music for about 8 years and having witnessed some amazing musical moments I honestly feel that this album is the best yet. Starting with the rocking 'Ships', upbeat, driving rhythm, captivating hooks, just try sitting still to this one. In turn powerful and gentle, always melodic but full on, just a fantastic way to open an album. 'The Final Chapter', is I suppose more typical 'Manning' whatever that is? Once again an intoxicating blend of power and melody. A funky feel creeps into this piece, with the usual subtle changes in style, but I won't spoil it by giving all of the secrets away, you'll have to listen for yourselves. 'An Ordinary Day' is probably the most beautiful melody that Guy has penned thus far. Gentle and captivating, Guy uses his voice to its full potential on this one, gentle and expressive at times, then at its powerful resonant best. A gentle song that has an amazing impact on this listener, how can such a beautiful melodic song be so powerful? After the quite reflection of 'An Ordinary Day', 'Bloody Holiday' comes along almost like a slap. A sideways, almost self effacing look at the delights, or otherwise of the institution that is the summer holiday. A jazzy middle section, with a subtle nod to 10CC, sorry you'll just have to listen to the lyrics. 'Valentine's Day' takes us back into gently flowing melodic waters. Something slightly different here, with Julie King joining in on vocal duties to wonderful effect. This song builds in power and brings in some majestic instrumental moments, pulling all of the best elements of a Manning composition together in fine style, with maybe a subtle hint of early Electric Light Orchestra at times. 'A Road Less Travelled' starts with a real Celtic feel, the song glides effortlessly along ebbing and flowing, building, rising, falling, gripping and enticing but with maybe a darker more melancholy message in the lyrics. As always, Guy has built in some dramatic changes into the music, but still gets the song to feel just right, the instrumental passage is one of those moments where power is represented by dramatic use of tone and style of the instruments rather than raw volume. 'Another Lazy Sunday' is anything but lazy, a real, jazz funk feel to this one, probably the most commercial song Guy has written thus far! Marvellous sax on this one in particular. So on to the last track on the album, 'The House on the Hill', probably the quickest 15 minute track you'll ever come across. What am I talking about; well it just doesn't feel like a 15 minute track. Gentle opening explodes out into a more upbeat section with a hint of Tull hanging in the air but quickly slots back into a more magical Manning sound. This track again flows, I'm sorry but I just don't know how else to describe it. Almost as if you're reading a musical book, each change in the music is a turn of the page, the story continues and it all fits together in an elaborate yet hugely accessible musical tapestry. In short , Number 10 has set the bar for all other releases in the Progressive Rock Genre for 2009, if this had been released in the late 70's or early 80's then we'd have been seeing Mr Manning on our TV screens in the endless documentaries about how 'good the old prog was'. However don't let that put you off, this isn't a album that wallows in stale mid 70's styling, it is very much today's progressive rock, time changes, a blend of styles, excellent vocals, virtuoso instrumentation, what more can I say, simply marvellous. (Paul Baker, ARfm Soundscapes) ---- Unbelievably, this is Guy Manning's tenth studio album in as many years, hence the title. Producing an album a year would be a task for most artists, but the consistency of the quality of his songwriting throughout each album is nothing short of staggering. Strangely, with this latest offering Guy just missed the album a year mark by just a few weeks. "Number 10" is the second release on the UK Festival Music Label, following on from the exceptional "Songs from the Bilston House". This is also the second to be co-produced by Andy Tillison of The Tangent, which Guy is also a member of. Both have worked together for many years and having Andy on board has added an extra musical punch to both albums. This latest collection starts off in fine fashion with the storming rocker "Ships" about a relationship that is all at sea! The opening has some scorching Hammond playing, very ELP! Great guitar work by David Million on this too. Next up is "The Final Chapter" which is another great uptempo number with a very nice synth solo in the middle. "An Ordinary Day", one of Guy's most observational songs and also one of his most beautiful. There is a delicacy and airiness about this song that is quite breathtaking. There is nothing delicate about "Bloody Holiday! ", a wry observational piece and with a catchy chorus that will be ringing in your ears for days! Possibly this is the finest prog song about holidays since Gentle Giants "Two Weeks In Spain". It may actually be the only one! "A Valentines Night" is an excellent duet between Guy and Mrs Manning, Julie King who did a wonderful vocal on The Tangents "Four Egos, One War" from their last album. "A Road Less Travelled" is the first of two extended pieces, which allow the musicians to stretch out. Quite a Celtic feel to this, with some fantastic fiddle playing by Ian Fairbairn. Guy has really surrounded himself with a host of fantastic musicians on this album, all who work in complete empathy with Guys music. "Another Lazy Sunday" is another accurately observed song with Laura Fowles sax very much to the fore on this. The whole album ends in spectacular fashion with the 15 minute "A House on the Hill". This for me is one of Guys best compositions ever. Lyrically this seems to be a tale of love across time and reminds me of the 1980 film "Somewhere In Time" which starred Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. There is an excellent musical build up from the simple piano led opening (which to my ears has echo's of Peter Hammill at his most reflective) and which peaks with the muscular instrumental mid-section penned by Guy and Andy Tillison. The songs finale offers a pleasing emotional climax to the story and clearly shows what a great lyricist Guy is. There are very few artists today who apply the craft of the classic singer/songwriter within the prog genre. The only other that comes to mind is Steve Thorne. Guy over the course of ten years has refined his style, built up a group of excellent supporting musicians and has consistently produced work of such a high standard. "Number 10" is up there with his best, which is most of his output and is a very fitting celebration of ten years worth of superb music. Here's to another ten.
