At last! Someone who has heard Global Communication's 76:14!!

As an occasional chillout/ambient DJ, I've often heard of this 76:14... reading these recommendations, I've just purchased same & looking forward to hearing it.

Some recommendations from my own collection:

Peter Mergener - Instinctive traveller: think classic late 1970's period Tangerine Dream with David Gilmour on guitar, then chill it right down; a blinding album from start to finish.

Kozo - Planned Penetration: Japanese chilled electronica overlaid with Harmon-Mute'd jazz trumpet; niiiice

Hesius Dome - The Age Of Steam; great double CD album. CD1 is relaxing downtempo beat electronica (with the kind of bass to test your speakers) & CD2 takes you deeper with a selection of serious ambient textures.

Got it on Friday & have been listening to it almost continually ever since; you can really tell this is written music played by proper musicians as opposed to electronics geeks (as is sadly the case with a lot of ambient ); wonderful album - thanks for the recommendation

Glad you enjoyed it, Jim. It's one of my favorite ambient albums.

I'm still waiting for my copy of the Kozo album to come from a seller in the US. Looking forward to it!

Incidentally, if you didn't already know, Global Communication were well known on the chill out room circuit in the early 90's. Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton are the guys, and if you ever see a copy of their remix album 'Remotion' please let me know. The last time I saw it on Amazon it was going for over £100! It's an excellent album. It's remixes of other artists work, but re-worked so much it may as well be their own material. It includes a remix of a Chapterhouse song, and 'Amor Real' by Jon Anderson.

Sounds fantastic - there's a copy of Remotion on EBay for just under £30 I've just seen; I shall continue looking elsewhere...

Proger, see what you think of this. This is Nathan Haines, from his album 'Sound Travels' I was never a huge acid jazz/nu jazz fan, but there are some brilliant tracks on this album. Really good, laid back summer vibe..

Jamie Cullum? Jamiroquai? Excellent ones from now on, very relaxing. Check Jamiroquai's early stuff.

Proger,

I also highly reccomend 4Hero. Very strong Jazz influence but also quite soulful and with a strong drum 'n' bass influence. Not sure if thats your thing, but it's really good chill music.

When it comes to atmospheric, depressing music, I just love to spin any record from Sigur Rós.

I can't believe I missed this one from my small list of recommendations earlier -

Another serious looking German chap behind ranks of keyboards (Germany does this sooo well..)

Ulrich Schnauss - Faraway Trains Passing By; a definite in its genre
