I was lucky and found an LP copy of Boomland when it was first released by Decca in 1971 (my brother was lucky enough to see them at Middlesex Teaching Hospital's SU) and then I purchased the German remaster on CD in the early 90's. I had been warned off buying the earlier Korean CD release since it taken from an LP copy rather than master tapes. The liner notes of the 90's German issue claimed the mix down notes had been lost at Decca so in fact the Germans were forced to both remix and remaster. To be honest, the muddy sound they produced was at times worse than what was coming from my well worn LP and the there were other aural differences. I've noticed that the two tracks from Boomland, one found on the excellent Decca compilations Legend Of A Mind and the other more recently on Strange Pleasures, are much superior to the German remastered versions of those tunes. Therefore to get to my point, is this recording a newly remastered version of Boomland without the aural muddiness- or should I stick with my German CD?
Finally, I'm aware of Bulldog Breed as antecedent to T2, but I do remebr mention here at PA some 2 years ago or more, or another project two or all of T2 were involved after Boomland's release - of which there has been a belated release. Can somebody provide details here?
