After hating on them in high school so many years ago, I recently heard some of their stuff and found some good sounds and some progressive tendencies.

Oh, and I voted Disco Volante.

But I would really lke to hear them try to do some totally minimalist stuff. Maybe some Residents. Or Fripp/Eno's No Pussyfooting.

I'd love to see them try Sigur Rós and squirm with frustration at the total lack of virtuosity. I think they'd go crazy! LOL

Seriously speaking, I'd quite like to hear them take on hear about them taking on Ludwig van's glorious 9th.

ClapLOL you beat me to it!

Maybe Trout Mask Replica, with Portnoy restricted to just a single bass drum.

I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

This should be quite a challenge. I bet they would have a real hard time getting it right.
Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me

Ermm I believe Dream Theater should cover...

themselves -- with six feet of earth! Tongue
(badda-boom!)

(For those DT fans lacking the humour gene, that bit of irreverence was what is commonly known as a JOKE. Stern%20Smile)

Wink
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
