Since all "Add Buckethead" topics usually only end in pointless arguing, I thought it might be a better idea to add this awesome band, at least.
Buckethead - Guitar Travis Dickerson - Keyboards, Percussion Ramy Antoun - Drums Albums: Thanatopsis Example track, "Twinge" This is the least proggy album, but I still think it's either heavy prog or extreme prog. Lots of strange synthesisers and (most importantly) a Hammond. Axiology Example track, "Axiology" Lots of Jazz/Rock fusion in here. Not a lot of metal, unlike the first album. Much proggier. Anatomize Example track, "Common Ground" The proggiest album of them all, with even more hammond and rhodes and whatnot. Pretty much pure Jazz/Rock fusion. I know I am supposed to add a picture of the band, but there simply are none. Even Wikipedia lists them as progressive metal (although they're not really metal on their second and third albums). So are they rock or are they metal? lol.
Surprisingly I've never heard this band, despite having been a Buckethead fan for 3 years now. |

Well, I suppose they're more rock than metal, but what matters is whether they are prog or not. I think they are, at least. I hope I'm not the only one?

For some strange reason I am thinking of that Greek spinach pie spanakopita.
Which I guess is OK as long as Buckethead puts some in the bucket on his head... |

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Well no, it actually is important what genre they are. If everyone just came here and said "HEY GUISE PROG BAND FOR YOU PEOPELZ TO CHECK OUT", it would be a severe pain in the ass for it have to be spent to several genre teams just to decide what genre it is. Saves us a lot of time and effort if the band gets sent to the right genre team the first time around. |

I was talking about the first step. First step must be to see whether they fit in at all, before wondering where to place them. But I ask again, are they prog or not?

Eclectic Team rejected Buckethead a long time ago, but now we're willing to reconsider the evaluation, this time more thoroughly. Which will take us time.
