Three easy steps for weight loss:

1) Cut sugary drinks out of your life. Everything you drink should be either calorie-free of very low-calorie. That may seem hard, but you have no idea how easy it is once you get past the initial change.

2) Eat smaller portions. For someone your size and weight, you need around 2500 calories a day to maintain your weight. Keep track of your calories - try to consume no more than around 2000 daily.

3) Go on light walks.

And then just wait - you'll start losing the weight. Don't get discouraged; I was for a long time, and still am to a certain extent. It's not as hard as you think.

I'm no professional, but this works. Thumbs Up Assuming, of course, that this is even an issue you care about.
I would really like to lose a lot of weight. Thanks for your helpful recommendations.

It's actually very similar advice to that given to my mother some years ago; her doctor told her the most effective way to lose weight is to eat exactly what she was used to, but less of it.

Simple.

Indeed - the dieting industry has people flummoxed.

19.5, albeit I could eat a lot of unhealthy food, throw it all up because of ... whatever ... and still retain a normal BMI and weight.

Never! I'm a bit of a sugar addict.

I have to eat! I eat, like, four times a day, and I'm still 132 lbs. I used to be 140 lbs 3-4 years ago.

Not that I do that a lot. I go to those Bikram yoga classes, though.

I'm devoting my summer to slimming down- even if I accomplish nothing else!  LOL

Since I'm off in the summer, I can concentrate on preparing dishes that are appropriate for weight loss.  This morning, I had one poached egg over a piece of whole wheat toast.  For lunch, I am making a small pizza from scratch (caraway seeds and honey in the crust, topped with onions and mozzarella cheese).  For supper, it's a bit of boneless, skinless chicken breasts that I'll cook somehow and pair it with squash.

I enjoy planning not just suppers, but all three meals of the day.  Cooking is a delight.

Oh boy, not even close!  Some of the others who regularly post in that thread discuss techniques and dishes that would be over my head.

Skinny was born in a bathtub
And he grew so incredibly thin
Even the end of an eye dropper
Sucked him in

Skinny never knew any questions
Skinny never looked at lights
Skinny sold something
Every single night

I run thrice to four times a week (45 mn per session at around 11 km/h), so, I don't worry about my health. I am above 25 kg/m2 but that's linked to my bones.

It's a Resident's song and I have yet to figure out what they were implying.  Knowing that he found a Hello Dolly record in the hall doesn't help. Tongue
