I'd say Zappa. He was a year before crimson, and freak out is definivly prog.
It is said to be the first Test-pressing of the corean release??

Absolutely Free can be considered as a prog, but Feak Out! is just remotely  related, to my opinion.

Beatles was never prog (though they have some progressive elements on their later albums).

I voted Zappa (20 f***ing years before DT started! Take THAT DT fanboys.

That's not progressive, that's psychedelic, and it used to be a trend at the time due to their lovely friend the LSD.

the moody blues-early listeners now!!!the magnificent moodies

iron butterfly-heavy,in a gadda da vida(1968)
