Is there a simple way on here to just see a reverse chronological list of albums based on release date ?
I check the 'new releases' on front page but they often seem to be albums that were released a few months ago (e.g. at the moment top of that list is Oddland album released in June).
Also is there anywhere on the site that lists upcoming releases ?

Not that I know of, but I've often wished for such a thing!
The "latest releases" on the front page are simply based on when them item was added, not when it was actually released (other than, I think, that is has to have been released the current year).

hmm ok, maybe just a refinement of the search algorithm might do the trick ? would just be an order by clause in the SQL

Problem is, I think, that a full release date is not a requirement in the database.  Just the release year.
