'ONCE IN A LIVETIME' is WEAK because it has appalling sound quality, I truly believe that is why the band released 'Live scenes from New York' because the previous live CD sounded so bad. I sold mine after a few weeks of it coming out, it was also bad because of the horrible splitting of all the parts of 'Change of seasons'. could not understand that all.

At least they corrected those issues on LSFNY

Had to chose Falling into Infinity. I think its a really great album. I like Train of Thought a lot (because I do like metal) but I don't think it is as good as FII. Six Degrees? I know some fans consider it weak but it is a monster album. Except the fact that Solitary Shell IS Solsbury Hill. Other than that it is a masterpiece.

But glittering prizes
And endless Compromises
Shatter the illusion

Its totally weak

FII is a good album but by far the weakest! Trail of Tears, New Milenium and Hollow years are great tracks... but pop rock stuff like Anna Lee... WD&DU  is very good album IMO.. The production sucks, but the vocals aren't that bad.. The songs are still great!!!! The Killing hand is one of my fav DT songs!

Maybe the vocals............... AWFULL!!

I totally agree with that. As I have already said elsewhere, LaBrie (never my fave vocalist in the first place) sounds at times as if he was being forcibly raped on stage - especially when he sings (sings?!?) the otherwise excellent Take the Time. ToT is instead quite a good album, although it sounds rather often like Metallica (whom I like). LaBrie's vocals are more than tolerable there, as he sings in a lower key and sounds like an improved version of James Hetfield.

I love all of DT's albums. ToT would be my least favorite, but it's still a really good album. out of those, I'd probably say Falling Into Infinity, though When Dream And Day Unite would be a close second.

ToT is the only DT album I could consider selling, I got tired of it pretty quick. Does anyone really like the guitar solos on ToT?
Currently listening to:
- Andromeda
- Pagan's Mind
- Kamelot

I love the melodies behind the solos. But being a guitarist, I realise that other people might not have the endurance that it takes to listen to the songs often enough to dig them out.

I know I am dancing out of the crowd with that: When Dream And Day Unite!!!

I love that album, songs like the hopelessly underrated "A Fortune In Lies", "Status Seeker", the brilliant instrumental "Ytse Jam", the godly "The Killing Hand" (still my favourite track from DT, and I am a longtime follower of them), the great "Afterlife" and "Only A Matter Of Time" are sheer brilliant, only bad produced and that's why the debut album of DT is oftenly ignored. Very sad I think. Charly Dominici's high voice may be not everyone's cup of tea, but his performance in "The Killing Hand" blows me everytime away! As I heard it live sung by James LaBrie I was disappointed about his performance in this song, he couldn't reach the high tunes like Dominici does on the studio version. LaBrie fits perfectly to Dream Theater but Dominic was a incredible singer IMHO! The poor production of WDADU also bring problems with the vocal-lines, so he never could show the prog world what really is his potential. Hopefully he will release a solo record, would be interesting.

When Dream and Day Unite, definitely. Dominici's voice has always been pleasant, I think.
