Was checking out sales data for the Mobile Fidelity release of (MFSL 823), Procol Harum's, A Salty Dog, and ran into something interesting.

My copy was manufactured in USA , by Philips and Dupont, which I don't see at all in any other listing, but more interestingly, the cover has an 'error'.

In the center album cover art it says, "Original Master Recordings".  Note the extra "S" at the end.

Theres a thread I found about this from long ago.

Wondering if anyone here knows anything about this USA pressing and the rarity of the cover.

I can't find one seller who has posted one of these on ebay, so I have to assume they are not very common. There's no way I am going to be able to get info from mofl , as they have changed hands and records probably weren't kept.

Weird observation !! Now, kinda off topic, but I recently bought a pristine, original LP copy of 'Home' for pocket-change, and, it's my 3rd attempt with these guys. My first was 'Salty Dog', and 'Something Magic' in the early-90's, and they failed to impress me. This 'Home' album is good, at best. I am having immense trouble accepting what is so special about this band.......

It's a little like asking what's so special about Jesus Christ.  If i have to explain it....................

Suggest you check out the earliest works, the first album (where Whiter Shade debuts) , then Shine On Brightly , and try Grand Hotel.

If you don't hear the genius, there's nothing I can say.

Perhaps the reason for me not being able to get these guys is that I really never have liked 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale'. I am, however, curious about 'Shine On Brightly' because I love Transatlantic's take on 'I Held 'Twas In I'. There may still be hope......
