I don't understand that poll. Of course, rihanna was the sixth wife of Rick Wakeman and had left him in 1976 to marry Patrick Moraz . But is it the good place to discuss of family affairs ?

And, until I just voted for Yes, the vote was a 19-to-19 tie...WTF?

The first tune I heard from Rihanna was pretty bad, basically the music from Soft Cell's rendition of Tainted Love spliced up a bit with her singing over it. Really bottom of the barrel creativity-wise. Haven't followed her since unless I heard some song of hers but didn't realize it.

Yes has had some clunkers too, so no vote.

Yes makes better pop music than Rihanna. Big smile
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

I might actually be tempted to say that Yes at their worst was better than Rhianna will ever be. Though I actually don't know about anything from her to support that claim. I guess I might have heard one or two songs from her somewhere, but didn't even know who it was.

I have a thing for Rihanna, so I voted for her... ;-) Check out the track Diamonds; it's me fave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWA2pjMjpBs

Oh yeah, I've heard Diamonds all right. Not sure about the other one. Diamonds is OK, I guess.

Of course I prefer Yes, and I'm not sure I could make it through an entire Rihanna album (I've never even tried), but I like a number of her tracks, and in certain situations (say, with mates at a club, a good mix from a DJ), I'd much rather hear a banging Rihanna track come on than, say, Heart of the Sunrise (or, yikes!: Owner of a Lonely Heart) - neither would work in that situation. ;-)

The funny thing is, I  tried to imagine Jon Anderson singing Rihanna's "Diamonds," and not only can I imagine it being a Yes song (sure, the instrumentation and dance beat would be altered, but with the basic melody), I could also *easily* imagine it being considered by most in here as among the very greatest Yes songs ever made, especially if it were the beautiful ending melody on an epic track like Close to the Edge, Delirium and Awaken. Even the lyrics suits Jon Anderson perfectly. Strip away the modern production and dance beat: I can honestly imagine this as a Yes track, haha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOGBIbqXwYE

22 people who actually like Rhianna better than Yes....on a prog forum..?
Seriously...?
They should be rounded up and booted off the forum and then this thread deleted and the forum fumigated just for good measure.

Even though I admitted earlier to liking Yes more, the reason why I voted for Rihanna was because I found it funny to consider how some white middle-aged males (I'm in this demographic too) would react to a young black r&b female singer from Barbados, whose audience consists mainly of young ethnically-diverse females and teenagers, getting lots of votes in a poll against Yes. LOL  (And also, as I said, there are times when I want to hear some Rihanna tracks, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. :-)

Rhianna made monsters like Close to the Edge, Relayer and Fragile, Yes only makes duets with Eminem and Shakira and makes terrible pop albums...

Oh wait, they really did

Now seriously, if we are looking it in a retrospective way Yes beats up Rhianna and I don´t need to explain because we all know who is Yes, but in the present Yes is making mediocre music (listen to the new album) still with the "prog" name, is it really "prog"?, Rhianna at least is making good music at her genre...

I can't see how you can compare two so vastly different acts, it's purely personal taste (but then, most so-called critiques are!). On that basis alone, it has to be Yes for me.
