I have heard some VdGG moments that are ok. The vocals from both .... is why the prog god invented instrumental music. I've tried hard but... some moments of Pawn Hearts... a few bits from Kid A so long as they are the moments blatantly derived from R.I.O. music which no one in the mainstream knows about ... but ... neither really. Always thought VdGG needed someone hot in the guitar department (guitar fan here). And Radiohead need the same. I suppose in many ways Radiohead could be a new VdGG... | Oh no, for me that's one of the reasons VdGG is so special. No guitars, and such a prominent role from the sax. I was rather sceptical about so much sax, since sometimes I felt that harder sounding sax wasn't really so enjoyable for me (such as with Schizoid Man... I much prefer the guitar driven live versions than the original sax driven one)... but what Jackson does with his sax is just great for me.

VdGG by far. Radiohead never really convinced me.

Radiohead. I've listened to them more and I think their work is more interesting and dynamic than that of Van der Graaf Generator. Some of their tracks blow my mind, like Creep, Airbag, Paranoid Android, Everything in Its Right Place, Bloom, Supercollider and most of the tracks from Kid A. This hasn't happened with any VdGG tracks yet, except for the song Pilgrims (from Still Life). Maybe it's their conservatism. That being said, I haven't listened to much VdGG so my opinions would probably change slightly after I went through their discography a few times.

Now, this is a first. I have never heard anyone call VdGG Conservative, nor is it in any way an adjective I would use to describe them.

lol, I can imagine a RIO fan perhaps saying that (and even then, calling VDGG conservative is strange). For somebody who just voted Radiohead to say VDGG is too conservative defies logic.

I'm not referring to VdGG's political polarity.

I think we all understood that. Conservative just isn’t the right word for VdGG’s music either.

I think it is, although it's difficult for me to explain why. Perhaps it's because whenever I listen to Pawn Hearts, VdGG's grinding organs and Peter Hamill's angst-filled lyrics makes me feel like I'm in a Catholic church, as a psyched out sinner in a confessional booth who is nervously waiting for the priest to enter the compartment adjacent.
It's a strange image my mind conjures, but to me, VdGG's music just seems stiflingly religious.

Bad experience with a priest as a youth?

I recently had a dream where a cute female terrorist didn't kill me because I thought OK Computer is a good album.
Voted for VDGG.

Radiohead. I don't get VDGG. That's my loss, I'm sure. I hope it can click with me one day. But for now, I don't get it... Radiohead was my favorite band from around 1997 to around 2007 (when I discovered Burial, and Radiohead became my 2nd favorite contemporary artist)....
