Ommadawn, easy choice, although I do like TB a lot more than I used to.

Tubular Bells I suppose though for me he's an over-rated artist and imho his albums really only deserve 3 to 3.5 stars.
Pleasant enough music but nothing to get excited about.

It has to be Ommadawn for me, but Tubular Bells is not far behind.

Ommadawn.

When I did this poll, I got like no replies Anyways, Tubular Bells just about - the numerous melodies alone beat Ommadawn's atmosphere/themes

Tubular Bells. Ommadawn part 1 is at least as good, but part 2 hurts my ears. |
This comes close to what I think. TB is more even (and gets my vote) but how great Ommadawn part 1 is.

Ommadawn. Although I love TB (and it was my first ever record I've heard a lot years ago from Mike), Ommadawn is slightly better IMO.

I see Ommadawn wins this poll easily. I can't say it surprises me. I expected this but all I wanted was to read some comments about both albums. Ommadawn is definitely in my top10. It also interests me which part of Ommadawn you think is better. But I'll ask you about that in the next poll.

There is an Ommadawn poll and Part One won easily although I voted Part Two. Tubular Bells is a little bit disjointed for me. Elements of it are very impressive but later albums are more enjoyable as Oldfield settled down and developed his ideas 'properly' imo.

Also I think Mike has such a massive musical brain that he was trying to get everything out in one go. I guess he may have thought it may be his one and only shot at it. Once it went global he was able to relax a bit and concentrate on one or two musical strands rather than 10 or 20 at the same time.
