ONLY MEDIAFIRE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM NOW ON.

Russian Tea Cakes is an online avant-metal band formed my members of the SR and open to any new members who wish to contribute. The plan is to submit certain pieces of music, send it to another member and let them add THEIR music to that, and so forth.

This is our current discography. A track labeled as "waiting edit" means that it is not complete, and may be submitted to another member to tweak or add to. A track labeled as "pending edit" means that it may be able to get on the album without any tweaks, but is still open to an edit if suggested. A track labeled as "finished" means that this is a complete track and no longer needs editing. When two tracks are combined, a separate link is created for the mix but the originals stay in case anyone else wants to tweak them. You can tell a track is a mix when it's listed as an anti-logic math problem combining the tracks and renaming it the number in between.

Tracklist:

To contribute a single song, record a track of your own and provide a link on the thread. I will then put it on the tracklist above. To edit a song, PM the original owner (or the last person to edit it) asking he or she to edit it. If they accept, record your edit over the track and post a download on the thread. If they don't accept, hahaha you got rejected.

===

If you would like to say something you think should be heard by the entire band, tell me and I'll put it here. The most recent one goes on top.

From CinemaZebra:
I must tell you guys now that I don't have an amplifier and my video camera is too low-budget to capture the bass. So, what I'm saying is I might not be able to contribute any instrumental tracks for a while. (unitl I get a good amp, and maybe practice with my bass some more, I haven't tried playing avant-metal ever) However, in case you guys need a vocalist, I could PROBABLY contribute some lyrics and vocals, but only if it sounds good enough on my whack-ass camera.

Yeah, what number should we keep the project to? I don't want to make it sound exclusive, but if we end up with like 60 people it'll be super hard to co-ordinate.

And since this is now the "official" thread for the project - I'm in on bass (fretless in cello tuning) and maybe kazoo for the lulz.

Looks good to me. That is deff everyone involved/we mentioned. And for the sake of some amount of sanity, seems like a good limit to the band.

Cool Smile I'm not that good really, but decent at least. I can add some guitar parts, full band passages, rhythm tracks for others to complete or weird drum sounds from my electric kit, depending on my available time of course. Sounds like fun Clap

Sweet. That guitar work would be great.
I've got the drumming down, but sadly I dont have an electronic kit! Weird sounds are all yours. Actually, it would be cool if we all shared parts. Like mixing up who is playing what for each  section. Would make one hell of an interesting progression over this uber song!
I forget who suggested this e-band...but I'm so glad. Im looking forward to this.

I think we're waiting to hear from everyone, see if their game.
I honestly don't know if we have a "plan" for this. As in: One records, gives to next who can add, and so on....or will we just throw this together? LOL I know we're going for avant garde/experimental but I hope for the former.

But I'd say start writing! Come up with some good stuff! When this does get going we'll already have some stuff started to work with.

Yeah, I'm waiting for replies from 5 or 6 members (all those marked as Unconfirmed on the front page) and then we can start to throw some ideas together.

I was thinking; should we put a cap of 10 people to each track? That could help to keep it somewhat musical and also make it easier when compiling the recordings.

Totally. And whoever doesn't play on one track can get next, and we can all switch off.
So simple Smile

I just recorded a one-take tribal drum interlude if there's some use for that, I'll upload it somewhere later today Tongue

Very nice!

So many people are getting on this already. I need to get back in drumming form!
I'm hoping I can work jazz/free jazz into it! Smile
On that note: Wish I can drum like the guy on Mago Tago! Its so awesome

That'd be awesome.

I've just recorded a short little ambient keyboard/guitar track, and I've also worked out some piano parts which I'll record sometime tomorrow.

I updated my first post, personnel is now included.

This sounds like a better prelude than an interlude. I'll add it to the tracklist (see front page).

EDIT: I forgot to say it sounds awesome. Clap

It's pretty rough. Done in 20 minutes

I'll add this to the tracklist, if you want my suggestion, I think someone should play a twisted drum solo over it, to make it sound more surreal.

Go nuts honestly, I can make far more twisted stuff than that too.

The crazier the better.

Let's discuss the lyrics.

I don't know about you, but if I'm writing anything, it's going to be dark, dark comedy.

Any of my lyrics would be nature driven, or nihilistic/existentialist.

Cool, I'm for that. I was thinking I might add a "film noir" feel to the lyrics while I'm at it.

Very spacey. Would sound good too with a sustained drone underneath.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing some drone.

I'll probably make about another 20 minutes or so once I've done some work tommorrow. If that's cool with everyone, I'd just like to make noise and ambient stuff... I figure we won't need my guitar noodling anyway.

I can help write some lyrics too if you like. I have a whole thread dedicated to weird lyrics....

when the album is complete of course i will have to review it...

My idea is to make an album and then any tracks leftover that the band doesn't like as much go in a side-EP. Both are free, so it doesn't matter how bad the EP is. Tongue

Well, I play both guitar and bass. Neither exceptionally good or something, but both kind of somewhat alright I suppose.

I would suggest you contribute with guitar. We have WAY too many bassists already, but whichever one you're best at we'll accept. Smile

That's likely to be guitar. Play it for about 3 years now, while I play the bass only one year.
