4 stars GRILL is a Sydney based quartet, coming from a sophisticated blend of jazz/fusion and art rock. Their debut offers five rather tricky songs, just reaching for a vinyl length in total. As for the context this is expressing a modern interpretation of relationship with nature, the band points out. However, the lyrics are an encrypted message overall. You know, in opposite to the music, regularly there are less limits concerning the artistical expression. Here and there they are stretching out the songs, let it flow a bit, slip away from structure towards improvisation.

Couldn't find any credits concerning the keyboards. Though definitely recognizable are synths and a jazzy electric piano in between. And the opener Heart Of The City even captures some hints of an organ. Andres Rodriguez and bass player Robert Mouat are taking the lead concerning the vocals. The closing song Voyager evolved to my personal highlight in recent times, a perfect combination of melody, complexity and jam attitude. 'The Eternal Presence' is a strong progressive rock album featuring well thought out and executed compositions!
