Windom End biography
A Swedish unit WINDOM END have got started with discussion who was actually the greatest guitarist player of all time. They say the seed for what was to become WINDOM END was planted back in 2007 by Pierre STAM and Tomas NYSTRÖM. They found they should be the best friends through the answer: "Steve Rothery", and the next days the duo started creating material. Later Mikael ARVIDSSON (voices, guitars) joined the duo. Over the years several drummers have joined and left the band, and finally the former Moon Safari member Tobias LUNDGREN was invited as a drummer. In April 2020 they released their debut double (exclusive) album "Perspective Views" via a Japanese label Belle Antique and their Bandcamp page.

Windom End Neo-Prog

4 stars Another promising Neo-symphonic unit have come up in front of progressive rock fans. A Swedish project WINDOM END actually have matured their idea and potential for this debut creation "Perspective Views" release finally in July 2020. The four virtuosos with the same will and intention together would have worked over and constructed material up for a decade I guess, and this album has got to be a more brilliant one than expected. Really filled with melodic lines and strict rhythms, and most of all, crazy fascinating technical plays. (Honest to say I'm not so fond of Neo-prog, but luckily I've got impressed in their 'passion' via comments of Mikael, the vocalist.) No idea which is true, the gear outside is moving his/her brain, or his/her brain influences upon outside ... but this sleeve pic should be impressive and expressive for the audience.

Forgive me speaking of the last track, but the last "Ghost Of The Past" is kinda killer. There is quite acceptable melody lines-based enthusiastic atmosphere all over, along with cool and aesthetical keyboard plays, explosive guitar bursts, and energetic but sometimes melancholic voices. Especially the keyboard battles in the middle part remind me of the similar vein to Citizen Cain or so. The first one "The Dream" has the whole essence of theirs definitely. A bit catchy for Neo, but phantasmagoric, dazzling fusions by keyboards, guitars, and rhythm sections are like dreams. Such an unpredictable development drives you mad obviously. In "Walk This Way" synthesizer-oriented orchestral symphonic temptation would impress you. Acoustic guitar gentleness merged with harmonized voices is pretty charming in "Within The Shadow", the shortest one in this album though.

The overall stream or movement in this creation could be mentioned as sorta unification of art rock and pop music. No magnificent innovation nor intensive eccentricity is upon their plate, but you can find there should be enjoyable moments here and there even if you are not an art rock mania. No suspicion this album will be one of the most tempting Neo-prog albums in 2020. Have a try, please.
