Transcending Mortality biography
TRANSCENDING MORTALITY were a power/progressive metal band that formed in Sydney, Australia in 2004. The original line-up consisted of Shane LINFOOT (Guitars), Mike ZOIAS (Vocals), Jonathan TALAN (Guitars), Corey EVES (Bass) and Matthew SHRIFFER (Drums). In 2006 they released their debut album ''The Last Horizon'' and toured Australia with NEVERMORE, followed by their own headlining shows and supporting EVERGREY on their Australian tour in May 2007.

Live appearances were scaled back during the next year while writing new material. During the writing sessions a stylistic shift became apparent, while guitarist Jonathan TALAN left the band and Nathaniel SMITH joined as bassist replacing Corey EVES. The band decided to stay as a four piece and played their first shows with this line up in early 2008. In late 2008 they disbanded, with members citing the need to move onto other projects. LINFOOT, SHRIFFER and SMITH formed RITUALS OF THE OAK to concentrate solely on playing doom metal. ZOIAS participated in the project EMPIRES OF EDEN, and later joined Sydney-based band AVARIN as lead vocalist, also featuring SMITH on Bass.

Although the band had technically broken up, they decided to finish an EP entitled ''The Mirrors Eye'' which contained two tracks written just after their debut was released. The EP was completed in April 2009.

The band cites influences such as JOHN ARCH/FATES WARNING, SYMPHONY X, DREAM THEATER, RAINBOW, RUSH, CONCEPTION, QUEENSRYCHE and CRIMSON GLORY, while their style can be described as guitar-driven, highly melodic power-prog metal.
