Q Neo-Prog

Review by Magnum Vaeltaja

3 stars This is the debut album by a new instrumental prog group out of Chile, playing in a heavy neo-prog style. The first impression I received after hearing this band is the influence: this album is absolutely drenched in 2000-era Joe Satriani. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that this "Q" is just an alias Joe Satriani used to record some of his own material. But despite the obvious stylistic copy-catting, the music is still very good. The performances are spirited, the production excellent and the band brimming with potential. This is one that I urge any fans of new up-and-coming prog bands to watch out for. 3 stars as this is a good album for neo-prog fans to pick up but probably not essential for the bulk of prog listeners.
Thanks to psarros for the artist addition.
