— First review of this album —
4 stars Now this one guarantees them a ticket to the prog heaven I would say, finally, while improving from album to album. GLUTTON won't care much about stylistical classification when blending post, psych, jazz, new wave and indie rock in a really favourable manner. Eirik Orevik Aadland (guitars) and Jonas Eide Hollund (drums) are the band's core right from the beginning, that also means both are predominantly responsible for concept and compositions. Furthermore Norway is well-known for a vivid musician interchange when it comes to the lively prog scene. Bassist Ola Mile Bruland (Mythopoeic Mind) already appeared on the predecessor album. Concerning the synthesizer duties furthermore Trond Gjellum (Panzerpappa, Suburban Savages) appears as a prominent supporter on their side here. There's a slight industrial touch to state, just like being inspired by monotonic factory machines, industrial noises here and there. And temporarily the vocals sound like recorded in the middle of a plant floor somehow. While referencing the album title, the three ambient interludes are emphasizing this too.

Finally they are skillfully while also carefully including diverse brass instruments, just a full horn section. This alltogether makes it to a rather unique and fascinating soundscape, which partially reminds me of the band Brother Ape from Sweden when looking for a proper reference. And so, I would like to speculate a bit, according to the album title, 'Eating Music' might matter consuming sound creations of any kind. Which necessarily will lead into some recreation, some new productive output sooner or later. In this case really singular and appealing. I'd like to mention Pinhole, an album excerpt which they had offered beforeheand, definitely attracting attention, making curious for more. While fading into each other to an epic issue the final triple Future Blue, Holes In Time and Space And Out Hearts brings everything to the point. Maverick, voluminous, powerful, melodic, entertaining, this are attributes I won't have used yet, fully deserved anyhow. 4.5 stars.
