Cave biography
CAVE is a Chicago, Illinois, based band composed of keyboardist Rotten Milk, guitarist/organist Cooper Crain, bassist Dan Browning and drummer Rex McMurry. Originally formed in Columbia, Missouri in 2006, they immediately went on experimental paths, including hypnotic and repetitive space and krautrock motifs. After recording the instrumental EP 'Hunt Like Devil' in 2008 as the starting point they could produce a few albums during recent years, the last three of them were released on Drag City Records.

— First review of this album —
4 stars This is a 12'' vinyl, or EP if you will, released on Drag City. Composed of three songs, roundabout 26 minutes of a really high caliber. The CAVE quartet are known for a rather experimental approach, which consequently in many cases ends up in an unexpected outfit, be it live or in the studio. Hence it's not rather surprising that their music often enough sounds like a conglomerate of psychedelic, space and krautrock elements where organ and guitar are on eye level throughout.

And so the opener Hot Bricks appears in best Neu! respectively Can tradition. It's the propelling beat which strikes, accompanied by minimalistic but still very effective keyboards and thrilling rhythm guitar work. Man! They definitely have assimilated the spirit! Teenager turns into a garage rocking affair a bit, an intense and very dynamic experience though, quite amazing!

Brigitte's Trip adds another motion then - subtitled 'White Light White Jazz' this is a tribute to the Velvet Underground most notably. Evolving out of a blues rock theme they are celebrating a (nearly) instrumental jam here, which finally is passing into an intriguing spacey floating part including empathic guitar handling - I love this! 'Pure Moods' is a three-piece I can listen to again and again. The album title hits the nail right on the head. It's your turn now.
