What instruments can you not stand?

For me:
Trumpet
Electric piano
Tuba
French horn
Trombone
The majority of early eastern instruments
Banjos
Mandolins
Steel drums

xylophone, quite a lot of 80s roland synth sounds and that thing people play at parties bazooki or something
They flutter behind you your possible pasts,
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.

Can't think of anything, every instrument has its place if used well.

I used to dislike a lot of horns as well along with my former dislike of all things jazz, but that's in the past now.

Banjos
Mandolins
Violins
Steel drums

of course there are exceptions.  If I looked hard I could probably find an instance of banjos that I actually like.

Whatwhat?

I have a hard time enjoying didgeridoo, but probably because I've only experienced white, dreadlocked, smelly freaks playing it.

Panflute.

Btw: quite a lot of 80s roland synth sounds isn't an istrument.

I like almost everything, but English Horns always seemed a little too nasal and grating. How do you not like French Horns? You'd be hard pressed to find a more beautiful, smooth tone.

I really like the xylophones on Curved Air's "Over and Above" and Strawberry Alarm Clock's "The World's On Fire" - they wouldn't be the same without them.

I don't really hate violins.  But they often steal more of the spotlight than they deserve.  And their "emotional" tone just gets kind of tiresome to me.  They do sound pretty in small doses.  And I was also thinking of when violins are used as "fiddles", which is an abomination.

Listen to Seven Reizh, you will have a different conception of bagpipes :
"Magma was the very first gothic rock band" (Didier Lockwood)

Violin players strike me as very self-absorbed.  I prefer the more sociable traits of, say, a cellist.

Bagpipes are ok.  I wish they had a volume knob though.

I see where you are coming from. Yeh the violinists are the 'look at me' guys. Tones of a cello or viola are more pleasing anyway. Like flugelhorn is the poor cousin of the trumpet but sounds much nicer.

Sure, Mark O'Connor can definitely wail on that thing, and I respect him for that.  Can't say I really enjoyed that clip though, apart from admiring his skill.
