My favourite is Arthur Spooner, the banter between hes character and Leahs, Carrie is so good. The trio of Doug Heffernan, Carrie and Artur is the anchor of Kings of Queens.

^ A comedy treasure, he and his late wife Anne Meara were one of the best comedic duos in show biz.

This happens too often:  The day before Little Richard died I was thinking about important original rockers who were still alive, and I thought, "Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis are still around".

Amen to that.
RIP

just heard about Dave Greenfield while browsing for something unrelated.  Greenfield was a bit of a hero to me when I was in my teens in the late 70's. The Stranglers were one of the very few major bands to come out of the initial UK punk explosion which was actually dominated by keyboards. His style of arpeggiated playing totally got under my skin, to the extent that it crept into my playing in the covers band I was in. I think I have a tape of it somewhere, from 1978. Me playing Dave Greenfield style arpeggios on a wurlitzer electric piano, through a flanger, on the most mundane covers like 'Cocaine'.

We actually did do 'London Lady', though!

Apparently a certain Mr Wakeman was one of his two big influences.

Rick gave a nice tribute to Dave on BBC radio 4, 'World at One' programme today; probably available later on BBC Sounds.

Sad news. Another Covid 19 victim. I saw The Stranglers a couple of years ago, and they were still excellent even after all these years. "Get A Grip (in yourself)" is one of my favourites, with its great bubbling keyboards.

I shall be playing The Stranglers as a tribute today in my lock down isolation.

So sorry to hear about Dave Greenfield if ever there was a punk band with prog influences it was the Stranglers and the hugely talented keyboard player was a big part of that.

I'm a man in my late 50's so don't use the word 'Awesome' like most younger people.. In fact i hardly ever use it and when I do it means I am in total absolute awe of him as a drummer and I cannot think of a more fitting descriptive adjective when I hear him play. RIP Tony

Sorry for my apparent allusion to your comment before. Actually when I wrote that what you had written somehow wasn't in my brain and surely I didn't want to diminish your wording, I just coincidentally wrote it like this.

No need for apologies (except from me perhaps).. sorry to seem a bit touchyEmbarrassed
