Who's got the best live album? I'm going for Jimi's Band Of Gypsys. He pulled off a miracle with this album. He released a live album of all new material with a new band and it became one of his best. Almost nobody else has done that. He only did it as a throwaway to Capital for contractual commitments.

Before you vote, please note that there's an error on the KC selction which was supposed to be "USA" and not "Islands"

Gentle Giant - Playing The Fool

Truly one of the best recorded live performances ever.

All Night Wrong by Allan Holdsworth is an incredible recording, but of those listed I'll take Yes - Yessongs.

Genesis Live. They were a unique live band in those days. Could have been the ELP album as well.

Yes (the band): I think the 1st Keys To Ascension Album is a better live album than Yessongs. But Yessongs has a lot of good material and has most of the early classics.

Did I screw up here?! I could of sworn that album was live. I had it for a while but didn't really care for it so I got rid of it.

If I pulled a boner here, tell me how to delete it please.

Yessongs is excellent,All The World's A Stage is very good-but not really a prog album (although a sublime version of By-Tor& The Snow Dawg).

Genesis Live is ok but much prefer Seconds Out.

so for me:

1.Different Stages - Rush (includes a third disc from the 1977 Kings tour)
2. Yessongs (brilliant version of Yes classics)
3. Seconds Out (despite absence of Gabriel is a lovely album)

Agree with Holdsworth's All Night Wrong, I've been listening it the past couple of months and it is a great album

The Best IMO, are

Yes - Symhonic, featuring a symphonic orchestra and most of their best songs (CTTE, Gates, Starship etc.)

Rush - Rush in Rio, fabulous.

I have both on DVD, but I believe there are CD versions available also.

Also like La Gazza Ladra and Real To Reel Marillion and Live & Life Arena and then some more

I like live

I'm always almost unlucky _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Id5ZcnjXSZaSMFMC Id5LM2q2jfqz3YxT

Fabulous indeed, although I think that Different Stages is better.

Also agree with Reed in that All the World's a Stage is excellent but not prog. I will vote for Yessongs since Different Stages is absent.

I'm with Ben - Gentle Giant's "Playing the Fool."  Then ELP's "Welcome Back," Genesis' "Seconds Out," and Allman Bros. "Fillmore East."

Peace.

The Allman Brothers is an excellent mix of southern rock, jazz and blues. Songs like "In memory of Elizabeth Reed" and "Whipping post" are excellent. The interplay that the band members had with each other ws amazing.

Ok. I must've been thinking of Earthbound when I picked Islands. But since Earthbound is the lesser of the two, I'd go with USA which IS a better live album. I hadn't heard either of these albums in ages.

I'll go along with that. Especially the Aquatarkus segment towards the end. When I saw them do this in Quad, it just blew me away. Gotta be one of Keith's best performances. Unfortunately as a live album, I thought the recording quality wasn't up to snuff. Carl's drums sound like they were recorded from way up in the bleachers.
